Taking pictures of the cats never ceases to amuse me. I'm sure it is tiring to see photo after photo of them on my blog, but I just can't help myself. In this photo, Winston is waking up from a nice long nap.

Sleepy Kitties
Taking pictures of the cats never ceases to amuse me. I'm sure it is tiring to see photo after photo of them on my blog, but I just can't help myself. In this photo, Winston is waking up from a nice long nap.
Big sale at Quarry Liquors
Quarry Liquors had a big sale over the weekend, along with a huge wine tasting. I guess I am kind of a regular there now as I go to the wine tasting every weekend and buy stuff there at least once a week. I bought 9 bottles of wine, a bottle of sake, and 2 cases of Ace Hard Pear Cider. Anyhoo, this is a Riesling from the Finger Lakes that I bought. I was tasty-- very light and fruity. At $16, I would certainly buy it again.
Burning CDs
My downstairs neighbor, Greta, is one of my new favorite people. She is super sweet, listens to awesome music, and lends me all her CDs to burn and cool DVDs (Flight of the Conchords is my new obsession) to watch. She also has a one-eyed kitten named Charlie, who is so incredibly cute. He sort of looks a little bit like Louis. Here is a selection of some of the CDs I burned from her the other day.

Crazy Fried Sandwich
Over the weekend, we went to Rocket To Venus with Ann and her roommate, Renee. Ann ordered this fried PB&J sandwich as an appetizer! It was ridiculous. I tried it and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I'd hardly call it appetizing either. Ann cracks me up-- I don't think I know anyone else who would order a dessert as an appetizer.
Ace Hard Pear Cider
There is a new liquor store called Quarry Liquors and I love it! It is in the newly developed Quarry Shopping Center by my Dad's old townhouse. It is kind of weird to me that there are stores and houses there now because I remember it just being woods and, of course, the quarry. At first I was angry about this development ruining my childhood memories, but now that I've found this great liquor store, I no longer have any hard feelings.
I tried this Pear Hard Cider from Sonoma County, CA and it is delicious-- really light and refreshing. As you can see, I had two the other night, so obviously I enjoyed it. If you can find Ace Pear Hard Cider at a liquor store near you, I strongly suggest you try it.
Bad Kitty!
Winston is a little demon. He likes to steal pens from my desk when I'm not looking and take them off into a corner to gnaw at them. He has all this extra energy and crazy now because he can no longer go outside and hunt turkeys and who only knows what else all day long. I still love him, of course.
Zucchini Risotto
The farmer's market this summer has been incredible. I can't remember a time when they had so much great produce. Every week we come home with a bounty of deliciousness. I used some zucchini I bought to make zucchini risotto. Oh my lord, it was the best food I ever put in my mouth. I keep dreaming about it and just want to make it again and again, even though standing over the stove and stirring the risotto forever is annoying. I got the recipe from the Vegetarian Epicure, which is my current favorite cookbook. Behold a picture of the final result.
