Stephie's room

Steph did some redecorating in her studio last night. It looks much more put together now. I especially like how she made a window treatment out of her MRI scans.

Monkey Man

Nicole gave me this 3 ft. monkey over the weekend. Let me tell you, this thing was a bitch to blow up because we couldn't find a bike pump anywhere. Isn't he cute? When we were in Memphis, this girl had a blow up monkey on her back and in all my drunken wisdom, I wanted to ask her if I could have it. Nicole and Steph stopped me, but I was upset because I wanted that monkey! Props to Nicole for giving me this monkey to cheer me up and for coming with us to the unveiling on Sunday. The support was much needed and appreciated.

my new phone

Last week, like an idiot, I washed my cell phone in the laundry. I had given the puppies a bath in the laundry room sink and I was soaking wet. So, I just decided to take off my clothes and throw them in the wash since I was already in the laundry room. Over the weekend, I bought a new phone, the Motorola RIZR. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. It's much bigger than what I'm used to and I'm having a difficult time getting used to it. I want an iPhone, but when they come out they will only be available on the Cingular network. I guess I'll wait a year or so.

Sleepy doggies

When we picked up the dogs from the boarding play, they were so exhausted. I've never seen them so tired. They STILL have not completely recovered.

Sunday's post

Maggie at her bridal shower. I can't believe she's getting married in 3 weeks!

Saturday's post

This is a picture of the cake my Mom made for Maggie's bridal shower. It was GORGEOUS and so tasty too. The icing was seriously the best icing I think I've ever had.

Friday's post

Delicious pizza from Two Amy's in DC. We had a delicious lunch; we shared potato and prosciutto croquettes, a salad, and this pizza.

Thursday's picture

We were in Baltimore for almost a week. We drove up on Thursday and left on Tuesday. We had to go to my Dad's unveiling and my step-sister's bridal shower. The whole trip was emotionally taxing. I'm glad to be home. Anyway, while we were staying with my Mom in Bethesda, we tooled around DC a bit. On Wisconsin Ave. there is this restaurant called Booeymonger's. I think it's cute because Steph and I call each other Booie.

Martinis

I made these martinis last Wednesday after reading an article my Uncle forwarded to me. They were too strong for me so Steph drank them both. Needless to say, she was pretty tipsy for the rest of the evening.

Read the NYT article; I thought the results were pretty surprising. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/02/dining/02wine.html?ex=1180152000&en=0802c6a4445169c9&ei=5070

EWWW

Steph got some viral skin infection that is so disgusting. I am assuming she got it from work. That hospital is obviously crawling with god only knows what. I had to pick her up early from work today. Last night we thought it was an allergic reaction, but when it didn't go away by morning we became concerned. AHHH, I want to bleach the entire house. The dermatologist basically said he doesn't know what it is, but it could be parvo. All I know is that it is gross and I don't want to catch it!

Local produce is the best

Strawberries we got from the Farmer's Market on Sunday. So tasty.

Georgia on my mind

We spent the past few days vacationing in the mountains of Northern Georgia. We rented a cabin and it was glorious. We only left the cabin once to go to the grocery store. Other than that, we just hung out. It was fantastic. The cabin was right on a river and we swam in the river and played on the rocks. We played pool and air hockey, read on the deck, relaxed in the hot tub, and grilled yummy food. The area was gorgeous and next time we go back we will engage in many of the activities that are available. I would love to go canoeing on Lake Blue Ridge and tubing as well. I had a miserable experience the last time I went whitewater rafting, but I'm willing to give it another try because, after all, I was only 8 or so at the time.

On the drive home, we stopped at an Apple Orchard and picked up some preserves and delicious fried pies. I got a peach one and it was out of this world.

I can't wait to go back, hopefully later in the summer.

Bobbie's Dairy Dip

Excellent hamburgers, killer fries, and delicious banana splits. Cute place, but strange location. I wish it were further off the main road so it had more of a picnic sort of feel to it, like the Creamery in Delaware.

They're back again

The turkeys are back again. It's crazy. Last night I went to pick up Steph from work and there were two of them in the middle of our street. They are so incredibly stupid. I almost ran them over. They would not move out of the way. Idiot turkeys.

Don't tell me what to do!

I'm gonna beat whatever I want and you're gonna like it, dammit!

Beale Street

Band getting down with some Tina Turner at B.B. Kings House of Blues.

Street performers on Beale Street in Memphis.

One of the many bars we visited that afternoon.

Very behind...

OK, I am seriously behind in my posting, so I'm just going to post a bunch of pictures I took recently and you're all going to like it! So there. I'm getting back on the wagon though, truly I am.

When Nicole was visiting, we took a day trip to Memphis. Among other things, we went to Graceland. LONG LIVE THE KING! Graceland reminded me of my grandparents' house before it was remodeled in the last few months. It was bizarre. Apparently Elvis collected monkeys. There were monkeys all over the place. Who knew? Here is a monkey in the "Jungle Room" (basically a living room with green shag carpeting on the ceiling and big plants).

Vanderbilt

This is a picture of Vanderbilt, at least part of it, as seen from the car on 21st St. The magnolias are in bloom! It's wonderful.

For Alex

This is a picture of Katie sitting on the couch with her favorite toy. It is a lion squeaky toy that Alex got for the dogs. Katie takes it with her everywhere she goes. It's adorable.
