Turkey Butt

...not as tender as turkey breast. The wild turkeys that hang out in the backyard never cease to amuse me. They are painfully stupid, but fun to watch. The grey one is new to the pack (herd, flock, pride...what is the correct term for a group of turkeys?). Did you know that turkeys can fly pretty high? They can and they do. For giggles I often let Beignet out to chase them back into the woods. They go nuts and fly up into the trees. I'm pretty sure they live in the woods behind our backyard because they seem to mostly frequent our property. Ah, rural Southern life. It's quaint, but I think that when Steph finishes grad school at Vanderbilt we'll be ready to move somewhere more lively...like Austin or Seattle or something. I'm pretty sure I require too much living space to be able to live in New York. Oh well, I can always go there to buy things, which is really the best reason to be there anyway.

Yum... delicious turkeys.... If you ever want to come up to New York, you and/or Steph are always welcome to stay at my place. I don't know if you'd like Seattle. The hipsters and flakes would drive you nuts. That and 9 months of the year is grey skies.

Seattle is quite wonderful though. I spent about 4 days there twice last year (April and July) and had almost no rain or gray skies at all. If you lived there, I would definitely visit you! Hehe.

When I visited in April it was lovely as well! The city itself is very charming. You're in luck if you like fish and international foutains spraying water in synchopation with ragas and Pearl Jam.

Blair, I think we are planning a trip to New York in the Spring, so we will definitely come visit you! You should come down to Nashville so we can relive old times by talking about clams and singing Jeff Buckley songs.

Andrew, you know you will visit me wherever I live!!! Silly goose. I know you love Seattle. I think we may go there this summer. I want to go to the islands where your family went last summer-- the pictures you took were gorgeous.

We go to Friday Harbor,WA every summer. Let me know if you will be around in July. I would move to the west coast in a heartbeat if my whole family were there too! But, I have lived too long away from family and friends to do that again. Everyone would have to move with me.

I love your turkeys. My mother had one in her back yard a few summers ago. It came right up to the back door and watched us through the screen. It finally flew up into a tree and stayed the afternoon. You are lucky to be near woods and wildlife.

What was that SNL skit? You know what? Chicken Butt. Or something like that. I'll find it on you tube, the mecca of old crazy sketches and stand ups.

I have a vague recollection of that skit. Let me know if you find it!
