Hanging stuff

Since the cats have deemed that we may not have a Christmas tree, I have just been hanging things wherever I can. I hung a few felt bird ornaments, as well as the snowman ornament that Jenn sent me, on some clips in my study. It makes the room feel warm and festive.

To tell you the truth, I'm not too upset about not having a large tree. I always break out in a rash from handling the tree (since I'm not made for this world and am allergic to pretty much everything), and I hate vacuuming up pine needles every day. Plus setting it up and taking it down is a real pain. So even though I feel like a bit of a scrooge, it's sort of a relief on many levels.

What is going on with Xmas this year. Everyone is downsizing...Rich thinks it is too much advertising and too many coupons and catalogs. We usually have two trees and are only having one this year. Andrew and Chad aren't having a tree. Everyone seems stressed. You are right about all the decorating and mess...

Christmas is so exhausting! We got a tree but it took us about 1 minute to pick it out because I didn't even care about examining each one to make sure it was perfect. And right now it is in the stand on the front porch--not even in the house yet.

It looks great when it's done, but then you have to just take it down again in a few weeks. I think you're probably more likely to go all out if you have young children. And Erin and Matt have to have a tree this year because it is their first married Christmas together.

Kathy, I don't know how you ever dealt with two trees! One has always been enough for me. I guess as the years go by, you get more ornaments than one tree can hold.

Well, we had two trees because the tree in the living room only had angels on it. Then, we had to have a tree in the family room because that's where Santa leaves the gifts. That tree had "family" ornaments on it. This year just the tree in the FR with angels. Last year I got so stressed out about the lights that Chad came over and did them for me while I helped Andrew with his cut out cookies.
